Café Roma
As with any city, the local shops and restaurants often provide the opportunity to see the city as the locals do, and Café Roma is no different. While not exclusive to Millbrae (there are two locations to the north, in San Francisco), this location provides an opportunity to visit this local establishment while not needing to combat the hustle and bustle of San Francisco. If visiting at lunchtime, patrons can pick up a coffee along with a personal pizza or pasta, or any number of pastries endemic to a coffee shop.

Millbrae History Museum
Chock full of artifacts from the city’s past, this museum houses photos, furniture and documents. Even the house in which the museum resides is a historical artifact, built in 1895 and restored for use as a museum. The museum is only open on Saturday from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm, so you’ll need to plan accordingly. It is located just across from the Millbrae Library.

Southern Pacific Train Depot
This historical oasis is all about the railway history of Millbrae, the San Francisco Peninsula and the Western United States in general. Located down the street from the history museum at the train tracks, this glimpse into the locomotive past of the region is a great way to spend a Saturday morning. However, like the history museum, the train museum is only open on Saturdays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, so visitors will need to plan accordingly.

Millbrae Farmers Market
Rain or shine, fruits and veggies are always available at the Millbrae Farmers Market. Open each Saturday regardless of weather, this market is a great opportunity to meet locals and fulfill a craving for fresh produce. Operated by the Millbrae Chamber of Commerce and open from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm, the market is a fantastic place to obtain not only produce but also locally produced pastries, baked goods and seasonal specialties. On some Saturdays, shoppers can enjoy local music from Bay Area musicians as they shop at the market.
Millbrae Annual Art and Wine Festival
This annual celebration Through Labor Day Weekend is all about the best of Northern California, from wine to music to classic cars. Each year, this festival draws visitors from across the Bay Area and beyond, and this small bayside city is flooded with people from all over Northern California. Now in its 46th year of celebration, this artsy, music-filled, food and drink fest is something any visitor would want to add to their itinerary.

Millbrae Pancake House
Who doesn’t love a good breakfast meal, morning, noon or night? Since 1959, this family-owned establishment has crafted homemade waffles and pancakes for the discerning Millbrae foodie. Breakfast foods not your thing? No problem. The Millbrae Pancake House also serves burgers, sandwiches and dinners for diners of all tastes. This cozy little restaurant in the heart of Millbrae is a fantastic spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Try calling ahead for reservations if you plan on dining weekend mornings, as there is often limited space.

PARKS
Bayside Manor Park, located at the end of Lerida Avenue, is within walking distance of the BART and Caltrain Station. This neighborhood park was renovated in 2002, offers a basketball court, a playground, and an open space area.
If you are looking to shoot some hoops this is definitely the place to be.
Central Park
Central Park is located east of the Recreation Center, this 13-acre park is considered Millbrae’s top recreational area. Residents and visitors enjoy using this park for family outings, birthdays, weekend BBQ’s, play, and relaxing. During the summer months the city hosts Concerts in the Park and other various activities bringing numerous people to this beautiful area. You will rarely see this park empty.
This park which has been recently renovated with the assistance of State of California grants,offers a variety of amenities including an updated playground, a large playing field, picnic areas, tennis courts, and bathrooms.
Don’t forget to stop in at the Recreation Center to check out upcoming events and classes.
Green Hill Park
Green Hills Park located at the corner of Magnolia Avenue and Ludeman Lane. The open lawns, tree filled terraces, and playground attract many visitors.
Josephine Waugh, Soroptomist Park was dedicated to a former resident for her major roll in assuring that the Spur Property would be available to residents as a recreational area. Ms. Waugh was an active Soroptimist which is an international volunteer organization for business and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls.
Jo-Waugh Park is located across the street of the second phase of the Spur Trail and offers a wonderful picnic area and trail.
Lion “Bill Mitchell” Park is a pleasant neighborhood park located at the intersection of Tioga Drive & Richmond Drive. It has a picnic area, an open playing field, and a playground.
If you are looking to shoot some hoops this is definitely the place to be.
Marina Vista Park
Marina Vista Park, located at the end of Spruce Avenue on Bay Street, is a park for people of all ages. There is a basketball court, playground, open field, BBQs, and picnic areas.
Meadows Park located at the end of Lynnewood Drive consists of 4 acres of tree-lined open space with a playground. It is a great place to relax, read, or have a picnic.
Mills Estates Parks, sometimes referred to as Sebastian Park is situated at Lake Street and Sebastian Drive in the prestigious Mills Estates area of Millbrae, this open spaced area offers a great view of the Bay Area.
Mosta Grove/Sister City
Mosta Grove is named for Millbrae’s Sister City, Mosta in Malta. The grove is located on South Ashton across the street from Rotary Park.
The area was renovated in August 2008 and includes a beautiful grass area, benches, tables and barbecues. It is ideal for picnicking, relaxing, and enjoying nature.
Rotary Park
Rotary Park, situated on South Ashton just south of Millbrae Avenue is the perfect spot for children ages 2 to 5. Rotary Park offers smaller sized play equipment, a shaded picnic area, and a small grassy area. There is also a path for those who are looking to take a nice stroll or jog.
Skate Park
The Millbrae Skate Park, located at 451 Millbrae Avenue, was built in cooperation with the Peninsula Family YMCA of San Francisco and opened originally in 2002. Then in 2007 the operation was taken over by the City of Millbrae to allow the citizens of Millbrae to have longer access to the park. Normal operating hours are from 12:00 pm to dusk during the school year and 8 am to dusk during the summer and weekends. Proper safety equipment is required.
The Spur Property’s initial purpose was to expand Junipero Serra Boulevard to connect cities from San Francisco to San Jose. Residents protested this expansion since it would have split Millbrae in half. In 1975 it was rezoned open space. The Spur Trail is split into two phases, Spur Trial Phase I and Spur Trail Phase II.
The Spur Trial Phase I begins at the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and Millbrae Avenue. Large Eucalyptus trees line this section creating a peaceful and serene atmosphere. As you continue your stroll through Phase I you will pass through the local Skate Park, Mosta Grove, Rotary Park, and Josephine Waugh Park.
Spur Trail Phase II starts on Hillcrest and extends to Richmond Drive. This is the quieter half of the Trail taking you behind residential property. You will be walking on an incline so expect to get your heart rate up.

Millbrae is such a wonderful place. It’s safe, clean and conscious about the environment. The highs school there, Mills High School, is an amazing school filled with great students. They have one of the highest average test scores in the state for high schools. The downtown is filled with great places to shop and eat as well. They have several boba places such as Yi-Fang, T4, Unisouffle and more. They also have great restaurants like Pancake house and Lai Lai restaurant. Furthermore, they have generic shops like Safeway and Walgreeens where you can get everything you need. Finally, they have fast food places and coffee shops that we all love like McDonalds and Starbucks.
Millbrae overall is a really safe neighborhood filled with pleasant residents and restaurants. Millbrae is home to the Bart Station, Caltrain Station, and multiple bus stops. Not to mention, it is only 10 minutes away from SFO! It is a cute area and has reputable elementary, middle, and high schools.
Millbrae is a safe, yet lively suburb. Downtown Millbrae spans a couple of blocks, and in my opinion, is the perfect size for a small suburb. Though nightlife may not be as prominent, it’s perfect for families and individuals who want a quieter downtown. Millbrae is only about 30 minutes away from San Francisco, the perfect distance to a big city. Mills is a great school with good education and support from teachers and counselors and offers many opportunities and resources for students’ success. However, the downside is that it is quite expensive to live in this area.
Millbrae is a small and quiet town. The weather is nice because it is mostly sunny all the time and the schools are great.
